Big news this last week.  Greg Glassman has sold CrossFit Inc. to Eric Roza of Boulder. Colorado.  This comes after heavy pressure from CrossFit affiliates, athletes, partners and others to reform the leadership at CrossFit.  Greg had retired 3 weeks ago and Dave Castro was named Interim CEO.  Dave has been the Director of the CrossFit Games and co-director of training.  Monday of this last week Dave and Eric held a live ZOOM call with all affiliates invited to attend.  Eric gave his background and expressed how excited he is to work with the affiliates and athletes.  (In the last 2 weeks there is already an Affiliate Representation Plan going into effect to get communication between HQ and the gyms flowing both ways for everyone’s benefit.)  You can find the 30 minute recording on YouTube at “Live ZOOM with Eric Roza and Dave Castro”.  I am sure you techies know how to link that better, 🙂   He comes across as very spirited and ready to get to work.  He has a solid foundation as a businessman and has been CrossFitting for 10 years and co-owned a gym for 7 years now.

What does this mean?  We will continue to operate as we have been.  No changes to the brand or how we operate.  You shouldn’t see any changes.  But it assures me that we will have strong leadership going forward to support the CrossFit gyms.  We will have a say in what we want or need and HQ will have better communication with us on what is coming in the future.  I will continue to maintain my affiliation with CrossFit as an affiliate gym and rely on the great methodology to help you achieve your goals, be the best you can be and attain the goals you desire.  I think we are going to see some great changes in the next year and I look forward to bringing you along with me on this trip.  So set your goals this week to get to the gym as often as you can, eat as clean as you can, get plenty of rest, work on your mobility whenever/wherever you can and enjoy the end of June/beginning of July.  I am bummed that we don’t have the 4th of July Parade to join in this year.  Keep working towards those goals and we can all be strutting in the parade next year.
