We had a good turnout for the “Bring a Friend Poker WOD” on Saturday. I hope your friends enjoyed themselves. We will continue with this on every 3rd Saturday of the month so keep asking those friends if they are ready to challenge you to a poker showdown.
I am starting to get the Goal Setting templates out and will begin meeting with you to talk about your goals and get a game plan laid out for you. You can meet with any of the coaches on this. Start thinking about at least 3 goals, (short, medium and long range) you want to work on. Anything from losing weight, to running a 5k to getting your first pullup. If you need help getting started just ask for help, any of the coaches will be happy to work with you on it.
Next weekend is Halloween so start working on your costume. Wearing the same as last year is okay but new ones tend to be more fun. Half the fun is trying to work out in the costume but don’t go overboard and try to workout in a garbage Can. Here are 20 ideas to help get your creative ideas flowing. SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK PLUS- Monday-Friday 5am, 6 am, 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, Saturday 8 am Poker, Friday night is the first Halloween WOD, then Saturday Morning, them Monday Oct 31 morning. The Gym will be Closed Monday night October 31 for Halloween, go easy on the candy.
Workouts this week- Run/deadlift, CHIPPER, Situp/Run duet, SNATCH, ROWING and Poker. FYI, this is in order for the week. Don’t be cherry picking those workouts!
This week’s Paleo Recipe is……
Tuna Cakes with Lemon Parsley Slaw
Ingredients
Lemon Parsley Slaw:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil based mayonnaise
- Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
- 2 cups finely shredded cabbage
- Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Tuna Cakes:
- 2 5- ounce cans tuna drained
- 4 green onions sliced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions

Make the slaw by whisking the mayo, lemon, and garlic in a large bowl. Add the cabbage and parsley, season with salt and pepper. Stir and set aside.

To make the tuna cakes, mix the tuna, green onions, garlic, lemon, almond flour, salt and eggs in a large bowl. Mix well and form into 4 patties.

Heat a skillet over medium high heat and add the oil. Fry the tuna cakes until browned on both sides.

Serve over the slaw.
