The CrossFit Games start this Wednesday to find who the Fittest On The Planet is.  This all started last winter with the CrossFit Open when we had an open contest across the world to see who would rise to the top.  For 3 consecutive weeks we did one workout each week and submitted our scores to see who in the world would be best.  Men, women, teens, adaptive athletes and several ranges of Masters athletes all competing to see who would get the chance to go on to the next step.  The top 10% of the over 300,000 participants were invited to submit more workouts by video to move on to the Semifinals (10) which were set up around the world to whittle it down to the final cut to go to the Games in August.  40 men, women and teams and 10 each of the teens and masters athletes are all invited to compete at Madison, Wisconsin this week.  If it is anything like it has been in the past it should be something you are going to watch.  So how can you watch?  The individuals and teams will start Wednesday for a full day of workouts, age groups and adaptive athletes will start Thursday.  Both groups compete Friday and Saturday and on Sunday just the individuals and teams will compete.  Try to download the CrossFit games App to help you with this, too.  CrossFit.com/games is another source for more information.  Tune in to the CrossFit Games YouTube, Facebook page, @Twitch, and @plutotv for coverage of the competition.  You can also watch on Sunday on CBS sports to see the LIVE 2 hour final competition to crown the victors.  It’s a bit overwhelming when watching, much like taking a drink from a firehose but it’s so dang impressive that I can’t help but encourage everyone to watch some or part of it.  It’s a a great motivator and you may even have to buy a shirt with your favorite athlete’s name on it.

SCHEDULE THIS WEEK- CHECK WITH YOUR COACHES AND LET’S GET BACK TO THE GYM WITH THE HEAT WAVE TAPERING OFF.

WORKOUTS THIS WEEK- Ring row/Overhead squat, Run, Pushup/box jumps, deadlifts/jump rope, wall balls/pullups, POKER

I am doing very well recovering from my chemotherapy and T-cell infusion.   I was having daily doctor appointments and now they are every other day.   My bloodwork numbers look really good and I only had some slight nausea to deal with.  I dodged a lot of bad symptoms so far and appreciate all your prayers and good thoughts.  They made a big difference.  As my appointments taper back I should be able to move home soon as long as things look okay.  I am looking forward to seeing you all again.

THIS WEEK’S PALEO RECIPE IS

Pumpkin Spiced Chicken Thighs

Pumpkin spice is good for more than just lattes and pies. It spices up chicken thighs nicely, as seen here. Serve with braised greens and mashed cauliflower for a delicious and healthy meal.
